Tears of Blood was, and still is, a cooperative effort. The content available here is a compilation of material originally appearing in forums on the Giant in The Playground website between 2004 and 2009, as well as additional new material. The original material consisted of descriptions, cartography, images, and details needed to run a tabletop RPG campaign in this setting.
From the Campaign Setting Introduction:
It was established early on that the tone would be gritty, set in a world where day to day life is a struggle. There are several themes that work together; most notably a plague that has ravaged the land creating a world in turmoil with unstable governments. There is also an atmosphere of mistrust of strangers, especially PC adventurers. The standard rules needed adjusting, a pantheon of gods was needed, and new playable races were created.
The original Tears of Blood content was written mostly for the D&D 3.x rules set. The material presented here has been optimized for Pathfinder rules, which were officially released in August of 2009, just as the original forums were winding down. The setting itself, however, consisting of maps and descriptions, could be used with almost any RPG rules.
I hope you take the time to read over the campaign materials. I think you will find, as I did, that this stuff was too good to let it fade away into the digital graveyard. And if you come up with anything new, contributions are always welcome!
May the Five Gods roll ever onward....
