The Judge then casts Detect Thoughts, and since you always know if you made a will save, this fact can be picked up from surface thoughts when it happens.
The Judge then casts Zone of Truth. You are instructed to willingly fail your saving throw.
The Judge then sets a baseline. He demands a lie to see if the Zone of Truth alarm is working. If it isn't, he knows you made your save. Or, perhaps, that you failed to comply with purposefully failing the save as instructed by the duly appointed authority. This results in the person being classified as a Hostile Witness. If this is also the defendant, methods of persuasion are used to convince them to comply, and the interrogation resumes.
The Prosecutor then begins to ask questions. Evasive answers, refusal to speak, attempting a save, or any other lack of cooperation results in a fine and punishment for witnesses. In the case of the Defendant, they are presumed guilty of the crime and punished accordingly. Depending on whether capital punishment is allowed as a sentence, and there's reason to believe you may have the means to come back from death, methods will be used that prevent this (typically Animate Dead and the Zombie is sent to a closed Demi-plane).
Remember, knowing what everyone remembers and thinks happened isn't the same as having a verdict. What was justified, what should the damages be, was anything illegal at all, these are the points the Judge must decide upon.
